Da Bole…It’s Super!

Date: Sunday, Feb. 5
Time: 3:30pm (MST)
Where: Our Place
What: Superbole Party!

Since the expression “Super Bowl” is protected, and can not be used by anyone other than the Super Bowl people, it’s a Superbole Party!

Now I wonder if it’s too early to start planning an Olympic Party. 😉

It’s Almost Over?

Man, why are weekends only two days long? 🙁

Yesterday we took a trip down to Cherry Creek, were lucky enough to get a table at Peet’s and enjoy some warm beverages. It was pretty windy out, so walking around wasn’t all that fun. We went into Sears where Geoff drooled over power tools, and I looked at garden stuff. Mostly neat things I could put in the backyard. I always remind myself I don’t have to have everything now, we’re going to be in this house for a while, so I can slowly transform areas to better suit my taste. Next we hit Bed, Bath & Beyond, where we bought a better rice cooker. Our old one would spill rice fluid because the glass lid had no seal to hold it tight. We bought a Zojirushi, which Geoff says is a good brand, and it got good reviews online. Here’s what it looks like:

We also picked up a coffee carafe (or airpot if you like), to keep coffee warm and off the element when we have company over. Our friends like to drink coffee (we do too), and it’s nice if you can keep it from burning.

I took Gary in for a car wash yesterday. I was going to hand wash him, but as I mentioned it was windy, and we were concerned that the water in the driveway might have frozen overnight, making for unpleasant driving.

Well, I should get ready for church. We watched Jaws last night, so I’ll close with a quote from that.

Ellen Brody: Martin hated the water. He won’t go in the water and he sits in the car when we go on the ferry to the mainland. There’s a clinical name for what he has, I think it’s…
Brody: Drowning.

Misc Thoughts

There are 7 houses for sale in the 2 block radius around our house. Just throwing that out there. 🙂

Scrubs had it’s 100th episode on Tuesday night, and it was awesome! They’ve been knocking them out of the park since it returned to the airwaves, and for #100, Zach Braff directed a “Wizard Of Oz” inspired show. Very cool.

I am not ashamed to admit I’ve been tuning into Skating With Celebrities. What can I say, I am a Canadian girl at heart, and I have always had a soft spot for Kurt Browning. It’s an entertaining show, though Geoff would disagree. In the future I will have to tape it, because it’s too much to ask him to sit through an hour of figure skating.

Doug called me this week (whoo-hoo!) and I learned two things. One, I did not have his correct address so he did not get our Christmas card, and two Karen is pregnant. What is really cool is Doug lives right near Colin & Uncle Kim. Which is going to make seeing him super easy on the next visit.

Happy Birthday Rod!

I’m going to close with a quote from Murder By Numbers.
Cassie: You get one life, and whatever you do with it, and whatever is done to you, you’ve got to face that. You can’t pretend it didn’t happen.

A Little More

Each day, we’re getting a little more sleep, as Elijah sleeps better. His cold is getting better faster than I expected, so we’re definitely make it to Mom To Mom this week. Myrna is giving me one of her old gates, we both just have to remember to connect. 🙂

I’d been meaning to write about the super tasty yummy dinner Geoff made on Monday night. We weren’t sure what we’d be eating, and despite having gone shopping on the weekend, we couldn’t come up with a meal. I made salads and Geoff made a cheesesteak sandwich that we shared. Oh my! It was so good. When we finished, we just looked at each other wishing there was more. Mmmm.

Saturday night was the reception for my cousin Angela’s wedding. I have heard virtually nothing about it, since both my mom & Dawn missed out by being sick that night. I’ll have to call Colin to get some details. This would have been the first time he met Angela’s husband Craig. I’d love to see some pictures, but that may not happen until I get up across the border.

I’m still fighting the travel bug. It’s worse now that Geoff has been to San Fran, and talks about wishing we were there. I’ve got my eyes focused on SoCal though. We need to set dates some point soon, but I got some fun news about San Diego. Our friends Sean & Jen are going to come and watch the marathon with Elijah and I, showing us the best spots to see it. So that’ll be cool. I was looking into hotels in San Diego since I hope we’ll stay there more than a day. I would love to see Anna & Francesco’s baby Julia, who was born last year.

We’ll definitely take Elijah to Disneyland for the first time while we are there. Anyone who wants to join us is more than welcome (the more the merrier). Sure he won’t remember it much, but it’ll be fun for us. I’ll go picture crazy! (Glen- you’ll be thrilled to know Disneyland opened your favorite ride, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster!)

I’m going to close with a quote from The Matrix Reloaded.
Agent Smith: The best thing about being me… There are so many “me”s.

Yeah the Broncos lost. What can you do? The Steelers played better. Where were the Broncos? It’d be easy to blame it all on Plummer, but it takes a team to win, so it must take a team to lose too. Clearly Pittsburgh is the stronger team, so I’ll be rooting for them in the Superbowl (party at our place, 3:30, come on by!). I’m still thrilled the Pats aren’t in (sorry Chris).

It’s chilly here, which makes it less than pleasant for walking. I have to make it to the post office this week, though I don’t know when I’ll get the chance, Too cold to walk that far, plus Elijah has another cold. Poor kid has a runny nose, and he’s not sleeping nearly enough (for naps or at night). So my plans for this week are to organize, and maybe get around to making Honey’s appointment to see the vet. We want to switch to a new vet, one that is closer. We weren’t overly attached to the other place, so it’s not a big deal. Sure wish we could still see Dr. Jen. 🙂

I got a cork board/magnetic board for the loft/office. Now I can put up more pics, notes to myself, and things to remember. I’m pretty happy. I have 3 pics up currently, Laurel & Brooke’s Christmas pic, Geoff & I at Disneyland (2003), and Cate & Kaisara by a hobbit hole.

I finished one of the books I got for Christmas! It was Canuck Chicks & Maple Leaf Mamas (from Meghan & Mike). It was okay, the first half of the book is about the kooky stuff women were told about marriage, sex, and life. The second half was a look at famous Canadian women. Probably only an entertaining read if you are a Canadian woman. The next book I think I’ll tackle is Beauty Tips From Moose Jaw, by one of my favorite authors, Will Ferguson. (Athena, seriously consider doing a book club thing with me on this book!) I may even think about reading some of the fiction I got for Christmas.

Anyways, I’ll close with a quote from Two Weeks Notice.

Lucy Kelson: George, I have an ulcer, I don’t sleep well, mostly because you keep calling me in the middle of the night, and if you dont call me I dream that you’re gonna call me. I think about you in the shower
[George gives her a look]
Lucy Kelson: … not in a good way, but in an I’m-so-distracted-I-can’t-remember-if-I-washed-my-hair kinda way – so I’ll wash my hair twice! So I have a hole in my stomach, I’m running out of shampoo and today is the first day in my life that I did not give a thousand percent on the job. And I hate that feeling.
