Jesus Is Lord!

We saw The Passion Of The Christ. It was amazing. The theatre was packed, and everyone was silent throughout the movie, and exiting. I’ll post more about it tomorrow. I would totally encourage people to see it, and as for taking children, I wouldn’t take anyone under 16.

Video Killed Nobody

I had a great lunch date today with Shannon (and her cutie-pie daughter Kaylynn). I was thinking today about my Top Five Favorite Music Videos.

1. Everlong (Foo Fighters) – It’s really funny to me.

2. Weapon Of Choice (Fatboy Slim) – Christopher Walken dancing? Come on, that’s awesome.

3. Don’t Come Around Here No More (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) – Alice In Wonderland theme, Tom as the Mad Hatter.

4. Sabatoge (Beastie Boys) – I love everything about this video.

5. (tie) Just & High And Dry (Radiohead) – I am referring to the High And Dry video with the “tasty time-bomb fries”. There are two versions of the video.

Honorable mentions go out to

Barenaked Ladies’ Enid & Too Little Too Late,

The Odds’ Heterosexual Man & Make You Mad,

Daft Punk’s Around The World, and

The Darkness’ I Believe In A Thing Called Love.

You can see I’m a fan of Spike Jonze & Michael Gondry. I know I listed Barenaked Ladies in the honorable mention section, and frankly I love most of their videos. Two Christmas’ ago my dad bought me Barelaked Nadies, which is a collection of their videos. It’s hilarious, and you should watch the commentaries along with the videos. Very enjoyable. But back to my point, there are a lot of great videos, how do you narrow it down?

No big plans for the weekend. We may go to Peet’s to pick up some more tea, and of course regular weekend chores. We found a kitty-sitter for our trip, and I made the packing list. We may go see Passion tomorrow, or we may go on Wednesday with some friends from church. We’ll see.

I made peanut butter cookies yesterday for Geoff. They were really good. I may have the hang of this baking thing. 🙂

I’ll end with a quote from Armageddon. I liked the movie, I thought it was good. It was the first DVD we bought once we bought the player. It was a dual pack, Armageddon & The Rock.

Oscar: The thing that really gets me is people who think that Jethro Tull is just a person in a band.

Dr. Banks: Who’s Jethro Tull?

The Worst There Ever Was?

It’s no surprise to those who know me well, that I like President Bush. It doesn’t take much for me to not like someone, just ignorance, hatred, and overwhelming self-centeredness. I don’t hate anyone, as it is something God asks of me, but I can say I come close with some people. Those are the people I grit my teeth and say “Bless them Lord”.

So Rosie O’Donnell got married, and shared these words beforehand: “I think the actions of the President are, in my opinion, the most vile and hateful words ever spoken by a sitting president”.

*The* most vile and hateful words ever spoken? Wow! That’s pretty harsh. I sure would love the celebrity-fame to go on tv and say I think the crap that comes out of Michael Moore’s mouth are “the most vile & hateful words ever spoken”. I think the guy is a tool.

I think same sex couples should be able to have a legal union, but it’s not marriage. God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman. Give it another name. I hold nothing against homosexuals, a dear friend of mine is a homosexual. He and his partner are two of the nicest people I’ve met. What I love about him, is he respects my opinion and my faith. Sadly, most people who claim to be open-minded, are not.

Afternoons & Coffeespoons

Everyone I know who has seen The Passion Of The Christ has said it was amazing, and could not make it through the movie without crying. Regarding the question about children being taken to see it, my friend Shannon says she heard it compared to taking your children to an execution. Would you take your kids to that? So I guess use your judgment.

My lunch date got moved to tomorrow. And we will be going to Chick-Fil-A. Yay!

Scrubs on Tuesday night was really, really good. At the end of the episode I felt like I’d been punched in the stomach. It was very well done. Great acting all around (except Tara Reid, who I don’t care for). I really hope TPTB consider releasing it on DVD. I would totally buy it, and Geoff would especially if they sold it as a series box set. He hates when they break it up per season to milk money out of you. That’s the chief reason he bought me Sports Night (and because it’s a great show).

I changed the comments provider, because I wanted to be able to delete comments if I had to. I hope it works out. We better enjoy the spring weather while we can. The rain in California is heading our way, and will be snow this weekend. 🙁

I’ll close with a quote from Kids In The Hall.

Filipino kid: You are American?

Tourist: No, I’m a Canadian. It’s like an American, but without the gun.

I Love Peet’s

I had a great walk to Peet’s. The weather was fabulous, and I had a fully charged iPod. I decided to break out of my box and try a new tea, Assam Golden Tip. I brought my How To Be A Canadian book, and was crying with laughter. I really love this book, and think everyone should read it. After I departed Peet’s, I went into Sears and bought two cute shirts for…(wait for it) $3 total! can I find a bargain or what?! 🙂

The walk gave me time to thank God for the blessings, and bring to Him the people I’ve had on my heart. Also to process how I’ve been feeling about my dad. The last few days I have been thinking about him, and replaying those last days in my mind. I’m trying to let go of the anger I feel towards things that were said (or not said). What brought this on today was the free time as well as hearing “The Same Old Song” by the Temptations on the radio.

Thursday I will have lunch with the ladies in my couples group. I’m very excited, and I’m hoping to sway them into going to Chick-Fil-A. I hope to get some photos organized for scrapbooking this weekend, and to work on a packing list for Edmonton.

Well, Scrubs is almost on, so I have to go.

Closing quotes are from Bedazzled.

Elliot Richards: Ah… well, you go out there and you give a 110%, and you wanna play good, and… you know… you hope you play good … I think we played pretty good tonight!

Swimming by the sandy shore

Dolphin, dolphin I adore

Everything you are

You’re so much more than a fish to me

My playful friend beneath the sea

EEEEEEEEEEEE!

I’m Popular

Had a good day at the museum. I also got a few nice emails today. It’s nice to be thought of. It a beautiful day out, and I hope it will be again tomorrow. I got a few books out of the library last week that I hope to tackle this week. I also hope to get together with some of the girls in our church small group.

Didn’t do too much this weekend. The calm before the storm (the trip to Edmonton). I dread leaving the kitty, but more than that I feel a little stressed about it all. I am trying to not think about it, and adopt the idea that some people will be disappointed by not having dinner with us. There are only so many nights in a week. It wouldn’t be so bad if people came down here to visit, but if I had to put money on anyone visiting, it would be Heather. My mom hopes to come in the fall (as do the in-laws), which would be good. Colin & Dawn hope to visit next summer, which would be ideal, especially if they have a baby to visit.

Johnny Depp won best actor at the SAG Awards! I did not see that coming. I didn’t really watch, I just flipped to it once in a while. Was thrilled that Tony Shalhoub won for Best Actor (Monk), and the cast of ROTK won for Best Ensemble Film Acting.

I guess that’s all I have to say. We’ve been watching season three of Family Guy, so I’ll close with some quotes from this show.

Peter Griffin: NOOOOOO. Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids. Damn longears, trying to take Easter away from Jesus.

———————————————————–

Chris Griffin: Where do you think you go when you die?

Southern boy: I learned from church that if you’re good you go to heaven but if you’re bad, you go to a place where the dead believe they’re still living and they pray for death but death won’t come.

Chris Griffin: UPN?

———————————————————–

Peter Griffin: We love the Bible in this house.

Francis Griffin: Really. What’s your favorite book of the Bible?

Peter Griffin: Uhhhhh… the book where Jesus swallows the puzzle piece and the man in the yellow hat has to take him to the hospital.

iPod People

Today, I bought Geoff an iPod Mini. He’s very happy (shock). It’s pretty cute. But we’ve been talking about it for a week. His is the silver one. I’ve had mine for 9 months, and it’s not a mini. All our computer stuff is named after Spongebob stuff. My computer is Plankton, Geoff’s laptop Squidward, my iPod is Pearl, his is Squilliam, and the wireless network is Bikini Bottom. Gary is our car. Yeah, we are a little weird.

It was a pretty nice day, though it’s raining now. The last few days it’s become more and more apparent that I don’t have enough time to see everyone in Edmonton. A week isn’t enough especially if you lose Friday & Saturday night. I really wish I could have another visit, one that didn’t involve responsibility for being places. A laid back trip, but I doubt it will be this year. Maybe next year. There are already too many trips this year, and they all take place before August!

Oh, an update on the Pepsi/iTunes contest. On Tuesday, I picked up a bottle at Target & won! It wasn’t hard, I just flipped the bottle to read the inside of the cap. They don’t hide it, so why waste a dollar on a bottle that doesn’t let me win. Geoff wanted to get in on the fun, so we bought two Sierra Mists at Safeway. We had to look at nearly 10 bottles. I spent my first free song buying Erasure’s Chains Of Love. I’m saving my second win. I’m torn between Grazing In The Grass (Friends of Distinction), Virtual Insanity (Jamiroquai), Banditos (Refreshments), or some other song I haven’t found yet. I’m still working on getting Geoff to set up an allowance for me on iTunes (which they do. How cool is that?!).

Here are my Top Five Worst Movies. Now these are movies I’ve had the displeasure of seeing, not movies that I’m sure will suck but haven’t seen.

1. Lair Of The White Worm (Kyle’s fault)

2. Eating Raoul (Also Kyle’s fault)

3. Army Of Darkness (I realize a lot of people like it, but I hated it!)

4. Lightning Jack (saw it in the $1 theatre, and it was a waste of a $1)

5. Nothing But Trouble

Honorable mentions go out to Enemy Mine, The Last Supper (sorry Jason & Geoff. Karen would side with me), Election, and Tim Burton’s Planet Of The Apes.

I’d be interested to hear what your list looks like, so email it or posted it in the comments under this post. I’m going to close with a quote from Red Dwarf. I have a feeling that season 3 & 4 on DVD may be coming my way.

Kryten: Sir? May I recommend I load myself into the reverse-thrust tubes and you use my body as decoy-fodder? This will, of course leave me splattered across deep space and unable to complete today’s laundry, for which I apologize in advance.

Rimmer: Kryten, stop your blathering and get in the damn tube.

Lister: Kryten, sit down. I’m not doing me own smeggin’ ironing.
