Nothing To Say
I wish I had something to write about, but I don’t. Nothing is going on, just the countdown until our trip. The weather has been hot, and I’m so thankful for A/C. Our place in California didn’t have that, but then we also didn’t have windows facing the the sun.
Ryan and Kana got married. They had a civil service, so she could stay in the country once her visa runs out. They plan on having a Buddhist wedding next summer at their temple with Kana’s family coming from Japan. Kana didn’t think it was right to get married before Ryan’s brother, as he got engaged first. His wedding is in the fall I think.
Since I decided not to work on Wednesday afternoon, I went in this morning. What did I do with my free afternoons? Besides go to the bank today, I’ve been plowing through my Sports Night DVD, again. What can I say? I love that show. I was so thrilled when Geoff bought it for me. The characters are endearing, the writing is outstanding, and it’s funny. I figure once a year, I should go through the whole series. So I’m due. 🙂
Tonight is a new tournament of Celebrity Poker Showdown. I knew Maura Tierney was going to win the last one, and Dave Foley was thrilled (he picked her to win). For tonight’s game, I’m betting on Richard Kind. Just a gut feeling. I missed this week’s episode of Joe Schmo, but I caught the last 5 minutes or so. Gerald (Jonathan Torrens) was really playing his role (he’s the Gotta-Be-Gay Guy). They resolved things with Ingrid, and I’m not surprised by what they decided. It’ll be rerun on Sunday night, I may try to tune in. All I caught of Last Comic Standing was Ant getting the boot. That shocked me. I’ve seen him so much on tv lately, I was starting think maybe he won. Monday night is I Love The 90’s. I’m thinking of taping it for Colin, I think he’d get a kick out of it. Monk was a repeat last week, but tomorrow is a new episode. Yay!
I guess I’ll close with a quote from Sports Night.
Jeremy Goodwin: Is getting “The Call” you know, good?
Dana Whitaker: Better than a poke in the eye?
Jeremy Goodwin: Really?
Dana Whitaker: Yes.
Jeremy Goodwin: How much better?
Time To Breathe
I have a few free minutes, so I thought I’d blog. Busy day at work, but it was also a great day. I enjoyed working with everyone I met today, which is rare. I may consider Tuesdays for the future.
Called the doctor’s office, and hours later, they called me back. Here are the results of my glucose test. Before I drank the orange drink, I was at 99. 2 hours later, I was at 78. So obviously no problems with my glucose tolerance, and no signs of Diabetes. (Since Grandma had it, I always wondered if I was at risk.) So tomorrow I start my drug to treat my PCOS. I also spoke to a very informative nurse, who shared plenty of information, and we went over it twice. I appreciate being able to understand what the steps are. 🙂
Nothing else is going on. I want to get on organizing the stuff I want to do in Glasgow, as well as work on a packing list. There is a Shakespeare Festival in the Botanical Gardens I hope to get tickets to if we can. Luckily enough, “that Scottish play” is one of two playing while we’re there. I think it’s very apropos given the affectionate nickname Diane has.
I better go, I have to find something to take for lunch tomorrow. I’m closing with a quote from Goldeneye.
Valentin Dmitrovitch Zukovsky: He wants to ask ME for a favor! My knee aches every single day! Twice as bad when it is cold. Do you have any idea how long the winter lasts in this country? Tell him, Dmitri.
Dmitri: Well, it depends…
Valentin Dmitrovitch Zukovsky: SILENCE!
Midwest Theaters Ban ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’
A story I read in the Denver Post. Makes me glad to see not everyone is embracing Moore’s propaganda.
Happy Independence Day!
Happy Wanderers
We finally made use of the hiking book I gave Geoff for Christmas. We picked a trail, we packed a lunch, and we drove up into the mountains. We hiked Buffalo Cabin Trail, in Wildernest. Here’s a map to give you an idea of where it is. Wildernest/Silverthorne.
It was kinda fun, I think it’ll be more fun next time. Now that we know what it will be like. But it was nice to get out of the house, get some fresh air and exercise.
Friday night, Glendale put on their Fourth Of July fireworks show, and it was awesome! What made it awesome? Well it was a a good show, but best of all, we had a fabulous view from our balcony. We always seem to luck out with balconies & fireworks. Denver will likely do their show on Sunday. We went out to Peet’s on Friday night, but I didn’t like the tea I chose (Black Current). Geoff traded me, what a sweetie. 🙂 I have Monday off, and I think Geoff may take Monday off. I don’t know what we’ll do, but I’m open to vegging with movies all day.
I guess I’ll sign off. Im closing with a quote from Dirty Work. That movie is funny. Doug & I saw it in the theatre.
Mitch: You know there are two types of people in this world: Those who get stomped on and those who do the stomping.
Kathy: Where did you hear that?
Mitch: Oh, that famous guy said it. What was his name?… Jesus!
Do It Again
Lucky me, the lab screwed up my glucose test, so I get to do it again. Joy! So I’m going through the fast and yucky orange drink again tomorrow.
That’s all I have to say.
Happy Canada Day!
